Tecradon, headquartered in Western Saudi Arabia, provides industrial services such as insulation, refractory coating, mechanical services, and civil engineering for power plants and industries across the Kingdom. We also offer vendor inspection services at source locations throughout Saudi Arabia.
TecRadon specializes in onsite stress relieving services. We have in-depth knowledge of the quality of stress undergone in each welding facility, by virtue of its unique components and materials in various industries. Hence we provide extensive Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) services. PWHT is applied to steel assemblies primarily to reduce the likelihood of brittle fracture by reducing the level of tensile welding residual stresses and by tempering hard, potentially brittle, micro-structural regions.
Conventional welding processes, which rely upon the local melting and fusion of material, generate significant residual stress distributions in the weldment. The magnitude of these stresses can, under conditions of high restraint, approach the yield strength of either the parent or weld materials. Post- weld heat treatment is applied to welded steel assemblies, primarily to reduce the likelihood of brittle fracture. The benefits of PWHT include a significant reduction of tensile residual stresses in the weld joint and, to a lesser extent, tempering of the heat-affected zone and the weld metal microstructures. PWHT is required where there is a risk of environmentally-assisted cracking.
The primary benefits of post weld heat treatment are recognized as relaxation of residual stress, tempering, and hydrogen removal. If performed incorrectly, or neglected altogether, it can lead to reduced tensile strength, creep strength, notch toughness of the component, as well as the increased susceptibility to corrosion. An important aspect of post weld heat treatment is to prevent brittle trans- granular cracking that can potentially result in catastrophic failures, such as the collapse of a pressure vessel or major piping component.
For that reason, post weld heat treating applications must be executed within strict uniform temperature ranges and follow code specifications which are dependent on the material’s composition, thickness and prior thermal or mechanical process applications. These varying conditions are governed by strict codes, standards, and procedural requirements in which we are well versed. You can trust your project is in the hands of the most advanced company in industrial onsite heat treatment.
One of our specialized techniques is post heating, which prevents hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC). Our post heating process diffuses high levels of ambient hydrogen from the welded area immediately after welding, preventing HIC. The temperature and duration of the post heating process are based on the type and thickness of the material.
Another service we offer is stress relieving to reduce potential stress corrosion and HIC. Our stress relieving process involves heating the material to a specific temperature and gradually cooling it, releasing residual stresses.
At TecRadon, we take pride in delivering high-quality PWHT services. We are certified to ISO 9001, ensuring that our PWHT services meet the highest industry standards and specifications. Our team of experts follows strict protocols and utilizes cutting-edge equipment, guaranteeing that every PWHT service we provide exceeds industry standards.
